Tanzania Immersion
Departs Saturday 5 July, 2008
Join us this July and experience a life-changing visit to Africa, including a visit to South Africa and an incredible journey through Tanzania.
The Immersion Leader is Dr Casta Tungaraza, Chair of the African Education Society Inc, and President of the African Community in Western Australia.
Our local host is the current President of the Pan-African Parliament, the Honourable Gertrude Mongella. She is also a member of the Tanzanian National Parliament – representing the Ukerewe constituency – and Secretary-General of the United Nations’ Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing (1995). This amazing opportunity visiting Gertrude's home village on the island of Ukerewe in Lake Victoria and engaging in the life of the people of the island. (Visit our Staff page for more info on Casta and Gertrude)
The Immersion will provide you with a real insight into Tanzanian daily life, engagement with community, NGOs, history and culture, and a profound engagement with Tanzania’s natural beauty. Following 2 ½ weeks in Tanzania, participants will have two days in Johannesburg, engaging with the social justice story of South Africa, including a visit to Soweto.
