Kelly Eggers - Executive Assistant
Kelly brings a wealth of worldly experiences and skills to the Institute with a strong background in University Administration and office management. Her keen interest in foreign countries, cultures and travel has seen Kelly work, live and study abroad for over six years, including Scotland, Ireland and Japan.
After a twelve month high school student exchange program to Japan, Kelly gained her Bachelor of Arts (Japanese) Degree at Gold Coast Griffith University, followed by seven years working as a professional Japanese interpreter in North Queensland. She later pursued a life-long dream of living and working abroad with over two and a half years working for the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Here, she developed the expert administrative and organisational skills and techniques she now shares with the Institute.
Her favourite place in the world is Lawn Hill Gorge National Park (on the border of Queensland and Northern Territory) and her favourite city is Istanbul, with Edinburgh a very close second! One of Kelly’s personal quests is to have her hair cut in as many countries as possible – “the difference between a good and bad haircut is not the language barrier!”
You will often find Kelly out on the Touch Football field as a Referee and Coach, helping players to enjoy the game each week by keeping the game honest and fun, while getting a bit of fitness herself. Her volunteer works in this field include Committee Secretary positions on local and national associations (Scottish Touch Association), and in 2006, Kelly was the assistant event coordinator of the European Touch Championships which were later deemed the most successful on record.
Kelly is eager to build upon her understanding of local and international humanitarian and social justice issues and share the enthusiasm of her Edmund Rice Institute colleagues in addressing these.
